One of my all time favourite movie.
Nothing extraordinarily great, just a love story with some fantasy thrown in.
Been searching for it for years, finally found a pirate dvd from shanghai!
I haven’t watch it since I came back, I dunno if it’ll still captivate me like it did many many years ago but I’ll always remember how magically it touched me when I first watched it.
I’m ashamed that I got it pirated but no choice mah..it’ll still be a jewel to me.
Thank god it went thru the customs.

After ONE YEAR, I’ve finally got myself a colorsplash!!
yaaay so happie, mine’s a handsome limited black edition though i actually prefer the cute white original.
seeing someone playing with one in a movie some time ago could have contributed to my renewed excitment in lomography. At the right time, saw this, must grab.. So much for the controversies, fact remains that the progress package paid for this! heee.
[ Time to spend money again..sigh. ]

Finally went for a show at The Picture House at the recently reopened The Cathay - the award winning Three Times.
No (good) comments for the (nothing) special Picture House, and the movie was a little slow-paced and not extremely captivating at first. It is the kind of movie that wants you to play with your imagination, in a subtle way. Oh yes, the cinematography is really nice too…my frens all voted for the 2nd segment set in 1911 DaDaoCheng for the beautifully composed olden days exquisite nostalgia. Myself, I guess i love the first part, 1966 retro-ish Kaohsiung for the rich colours and pop art prints amongst dreamy settings. The 3rd segment is set in present day Taipei, its youth culture & urban cityscape well depicted. The images are deeply moving. Its 3 different unfinished love story set in 3 eras, open ended, non connected..
At first it seems puzzling but i guess im a slow in my mind & heart person, i found myself still thinking about the ‘feel’ and the message of the movie 2 days later. Especially strike a chord with me upon reading the director - Hou Hsiao Hsien’s commentary on his movie:
“Our lives are full of fragmentary memories. We can’t give them names, we can’t classify them and they have no great significance. But they lodge in the mind, somehow unshakeable… i think of them as the best of times… ‘The best’ not because we can’t forget them, not because they are things that have now been lost. The reason that they’re the best is that they exist only in our memories.”
[ Indeed, there are certain kind of memories that are especially beautiful and memorable, for the very fact that it is ours individually where no one else in the world can exactly share. Treasure these best times.

When you have days where you cannot see through the clouds of confusion or your heart weighs heavy with dark emotions, look inwards and focus on letting your inner sun shine, and dispel those negative thoughts and emotions.
It is our ability to let our own inner sun shine that can make such a difference.
When you can transcend negative thoughts and feelings, and instead think and feel more positively, it creates a totally different energy.
Excerpt from Alison Day

I dream[T] in colours…
Green, Blue, Pink, Yellow, Red, Purple ,…… the whole spectrum of colours.
What about U?
Have u ever noticed if ur dreams are painted with vivid colours or r set in black n white?
Realised you can’t be certain at all? Not surprised. Dreams r just dreams.
Pay some attention tonite. U may be surprised the blue sky or the red balloon u envisioned in ur dreams r merely images of black n white. & most ppl dream in black n white .. or so i heard ..
I do not noe y some ppl dream in colours & y some ppl dream in gray monotone.
Can anyone tell me y y y?
Maybe there’s no significance at all .. it doesn’t matter if its coloured or not .. just like many things in life, its just the way things r .. there’s no equal, no formula, no logic.
“Lately… some colours r fading in my dreams”

such an irony~
with such high level of confidence,
anything and everthing can still go wrong.
never underestimate the power of how a funny twist of fate can jeopardise your victory in a mere few hours…
next time, pleaaaaase learn how to count your blessings SILENTLY.
i should at least be glad that the best trait in me is to a hv a self-mocking sense of humour.
when everything goes wrong,
treat myself to a good laugh.
yes silliness is a blessing. (silence please!!)
its afterall april’s fool eve!
wat a time to test my mocking spirit!
canned worms?
[ never say never ]

i jus heard that april fool’s day originates from france and the reason i’m too lazy to explain here. it used to be also called ‘april fish’s day’ cos fishes are such silly creatures?! here there’s one perfect example…

I SURVIVED!
March 2006 was the most inccorigible month to deal with in recent modern history of my life!
Finally made it to the last day…I feel like superhero, marching happily into the long awaited April…phew!
March was ‘no action’ month, hmm time to start blogging again, much to the annoyance of fellow friendster-frens I guess.. oops.
Last few hours, packing in quite a bit, but I’m pretty certain I will be fine. Don’t let the rain ruin my plans, carry a brollie!

Made a trip back to TP, its been so many many years since I last stepped in. Some things remained unchanged, some things have changed. Nonetheless, familiarity still reigns..its still the familiar air that i breathe within its compound..same fresh & tingling air of hope mixed with uncertainty..

To reminiscent old times, I made a beeline for our block 28 canteen - The Designer’s Pad. To my glad surprise, the only 4 stalls we have in our tiny canteen are still the same Malay, Western, Chinese & Drinks Stall of my time. (Malay I’m not so sure if its the same folks operating though)
I had this plate of zhi char style mee goreng from the Chinese stall that I missed. Not that its really really that delicious but the flavour is certainly one of its kind.
It so reminds me of the times we stayed back late for processing of films & printing our pictures in the dark room. The fragrance of the spicy noodles mixed with the smell of chemicals, the warmth in our stomach vs the freezing coldness in the pitch-blackness… And of cos I missed the curry puffs from the drinks stall! So I asked the ’shao dong’ (forget the bespectacled guy’s name) curry puffs no more? ‘yi-san-wu’ came his reply..oh yes! How could I forget? Curry puffs selling on Mon, Wed & Fri’s only.. haiz what a disappointment.
It’s okay, plenty of chances to go back to school from now on!! to block 28..to canteen..to buy curry puffs! ok every yi-san-wu… (and she claims she’s dieting!!)
[ from the shao dong who asked me am i from sichuan, I learnt that sichuan folks have catty eyes, are fair, perhaps broad & round, & of cos digs spicy food!

A day before chinese new year rolls in, i was at mount alvernia hospital eagerly awaiting to see my new toy! whoahaha…(my brother-in-law better not read this..)
too bad i wasn’t permitted to take out my camera..can only make do with this lousy phone pic..the nurse is attending my new nephew, preparing him for a BCG jab
my sis showed me a ‘welcome baby’ card made by nephew no.1 for nephew no.2, and they prepared a present on behalf of the newborn for his brother as well. she was told that by getting the siblings to do a gift exchange will ensure that they can live harmoniously without any jealousy or bully issue! hmm..if only someone advises my mom last time, it could have saved my miserable childhood…& i wont be so damaged now
while tickling the tiny baby, i have this wicked thought..”the first boy was prettier at birth time!” hmm, maybe thats where favortism starts…poor child….evil auntie…….!!
